As a HLA Co-Director, you will:
• Co-directing the overall operation and administration of the laboratory,
including the employment of personnel, ensure that testing systems developed
and used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory provide quality laboratory
services for all aspects of test performance, which includes the pre-analytic,
analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing. Provides technical support for
clinical HLA testing services.
• Assist the principal investigator on NMDP contract duties. This includes
organization of contracted work review of quality control records to ensure
compliance and attendance at Principle Investigator’s meetings.
• Designs and develops research work done in the HLA Laboratory in order
to make productive advances in the fields of Immunogenetics and/or Histocompatibility.
• Prepares research publications, grant requests and regularly scheduled
research progress reports, manuscripts summarizing projects and results for
review and publication in professional journals.Job Requirements:
• Hold an earned doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological or
clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution or be a doctor of
medicine or osteopathy licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the state,
country, or other jurisdiction in which the laboratory is located.
• Be certified or be eligible for certification by ASHI.• Have at
least 2 years full-time post-doctoral laboratory training or experience in immunology,
histocompatibility, immunogenetics, or a related field, or a residency in clinical
and/or anatomic pathology or other related medical specialty, and have at least
2 years full-time post-doctoral training in directing or supervising high complexity
testing in human histocompatibility and immunogenetics in an ASHI-accredited
or approved laboratory. Pre-doctoral experience supervising high complexity
testing in human histocompatibility and immunogenetics in ASHI approved laboratory
may be credited (0.5 post year for each pre year)

The Connell and O’Reilly Families Cell Manipulation Core Facility (CMCF)
at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts is looking for highly-motivated
individuals to fill two positions within our department. The CMCF is a cutting-edge
Class 10,000 clean room clinical laboratory facility specialized in processing
hematopoietic stem cells for Autologous and Allogeneic stem cell transplantation,
generating tumor-based cellular vaccines using genetic or culture mediated modification
of tumor cells and preparing immune cell populations for adoptive cellular therapy.
We are looking for a Supervisor for our Quality Control Laboratory (QCL) and
a Quality Control Technologist. Both positions require coordination of the day
to day workflow with the cell processing staff within the manufacturing areas,
to ensures that all procedures and testing are performed under the highest standards
of quality and meeting all of the applicable regulations and standards.
The QC Lab Supervisor provides supervision and direction of the QCL to provide
cellular product testing as well as environmental testing of the clean room
facility, implementation and maintenance of all equipment and will be required
to assist in development and validation of new assays as needed. The QC technologist
position is for a motivated medical technologist who enjoys working in a non-traditional
setting. The QCL performs cell counts, flow cytometry, basic microbiology and
some assay development.
Qualifications required are a BS in Medical Technology, Biological Science or
equivalent as defined by HCFA for General Laboratory Supervisor. MT(ASCP) certification
is strongly preferred. Minimum 5 years of previous supervisory experience required
with previous experience in the area applying for strongly preferred. Strong
working knowledge of AABB, FACT, FDA and CLIA regulations and standards for
cellular therapy also required. Both positions are Monday through Friday with
the QCL Supervisor split shift (10 am to 6:30 pm preferred) position and the
QCL Technologist an evening shift (3 to 11:30 pm) position.

Service and works in collaboration with the Blood Donor Program and the Cellular
Therapy Center within the Transfusion Medicine Service. The demands of this
